For many of exercise is a four letter word. It conjures images of sweat, pain and boot camp style activity that dread. There is this huge perception that unless we work out like in boot camp and kill ourselves then we will not see results or fast weight loss. This is just not true, in fact while fitness and weight loss are very connected you do not need to kill yourself to get fit or to lose weight.
Exercise is very important in addition to the free weight loss plans that we decide on.
1. Exercise will make us lose weight faster in a healthy way. Exercise boosts metabolism and makes the body burn more fat throughout the day and even during sleep.
2. Exercise is good for the heart and will actually increase an individuals energy for the long term.
While the show "The Biggest Loser" shows miserable suffering people working out with a drill Sergeant yelling behind them, trust me, this is all for ratings and the wow factor, trying to portray a reality show drama. In reality if we are miserable we will not want to workout and this will hinder our weight loss process.
You do not have to kill yourself to get a good workout, nor do you need an electric treadmill, in fact many over do it and then quit all together or injure themselves and have to quit, and this is the stupidest thing I ever heard. Why not take the simple approach that humans will do those things readily that they associate as positive, and this applies to picking the right diet and weight loss plans and exercise as well.
All of us have some form of movement that we like and a lot of aerobic activity, that which raises the heart rate to a fat burning level can be low impact and does not have to send you to some boot camp heck. After exercise we should be invigorated and feeling good, not lying on the floor ready to pass out.
The important thing to remember is to start out slow, if you are not used to working out then start small and add more over time as you start to feel more fit and have more endurance, believe me it happens quickly and before you know it you will be fit like the pros and losing weight like crazy.
3 Easy and Fun Workouts For Losing Weight
1. Power Walks
No you do not have to run to lose weight and be fit. Many find walking fun and easy and you can start out by going around the block and then adding to it each time. Walk briskly and make sure to move your arms in unison with your legs for added aerobic action. Get an iPod or a portable headset radio for added energy, nothing like your favorite tunes to get you going.
2. Dance
Everyone has their favorite dance tunes, whether its oldies or hip-hop so crank them up and just dance in the living room. You can add a song each time and before you know it you will be working out effortlessly and feeling fit and losing weight.
3. Cycling
Stationary bikes are very low impact, and they are affordable for home or you can use one at the local gym. Again the music helps and the resistance levels can be increased over time.
Do any or all of these at least 3 times for 15-20 minutes to start and shoot for 1 hour as your goal. These workouts will get you well on your way to feeling and looking great!
Another great alternative is weight training, which tones muscles which burn more fat. weight training equipment is not expensive and you can build up a collection rather quickly.
